School Wellbeing Support Officer

The school wellbeing support officer position is a staff position which complements other programs in our school in providing help and care for the personal and social wellbeing of students and the school community.

At Caringbah Public School, our school, through consultation with the P&C and the wider school community, chose to establish a wellbeing officer position.  Our School wellbeing support officer (SWSO) was appointed in Term 3, 2018 and works alongside the learning support team to facilitate student wellbeing. The SWSO will be available to meet, on a voluntary basis, with students and other members of the school community to provide support and guidance regarding relationships, wellbeing, life choices, values and social matters following the written permission from a parent or guardian.

Our SWSO can provide a range of services such as:

  • Assisting in the provision of the school's welfare programs
  • Participating in the school's learning support team
  • Pastoral and personal support
  • Facilitating small groups that target student wellbeing or students at risk
  • Supporting children and families in a range of areas including referrals to other agencies, support for children with special needs, parenting support
  • Facilitating lunchtime activities to assist students in building healthy relationships
  • Facilitating groups and activities to support spiritual wellbeing with voluntary student participation

The role of the SWSO is separate to that of the special religious education (SRE) program that operates within the school. Referral forms are available from the school office if you or your child would like to access the service.

All children and their families are welcome to make an appointment at any time during the school term with Mrs Jess Love our School wellbeing support officer (SWSO).
